Position Details: 


1.   Master's degree in educational leadership, school administration and/or curriculum or other related field required.
2.   Michigan Teaching Certificate required. 
3.   Current Michigan Administrative Certification or equivalent required.
4.   Five years teaching experience in secondary education required.
5.   Previous experience as a building administrator preferred.
6.   Demonstrated ability and experience providing leadership that results in teamwork and collaborative and respectful working relationships.
7.   Demonstrated ability and experience communicating clear vision and working cooperatively with colleagues to attain the vision.
8.   Demonstrated ability to communicate and explain clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication.
9.   Demonstrated strong knowledge base in special education, high school curriculum, instruction, and assessment.
10. Demonstrated knowledge of federal and state mandates.
11. Demonstrated strong interpersonal and public relations skills.
12. Demonstrated ability and experience to create and executing project management plans.

Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board of Education may find appropriate and acceptable.

1.   Interacts with students in a constructive manner to encourage each individual to perform at his or her highest level.
2.   Accurately assesses the effectiveness of teachers based upon student growth.
3.   Directs and supervises instructional and non-instructional personnel in a school building including orientation, observation, and evaluation, within the limits of contracts and Board policy.
4.   Directs and supervises student activities and /or athletics.  Responsible for coordinating assemblies, fundraising activities, extracurricular events, homerooms, graduation activities, student orientation activities, student government activities, and various other events.
5.   Develops, establishes and administers school building policies and procedures; and implements Board of Education policies and Administrative guidelines.  
6.   Administers the school building budget.  Purchases items according to District procedures and maintains general and internal fund accounting records.
7.   Directs and supervises student services including scheduling, attendance, discipline, guidance, and extracurricular activities.
8.   Develops the Master Schedule for teacher placement and advises the staff of their curricular and extracurricular responsibilities.  
9.   Prepares or supervises the preparation of reports, records, lists, and all other paperwork required or appropriate to the school’s administration. 
10. Directs and oversees maintenance of the school facility to ensure the health and safety of students and staff.
11. Represents and promotes the school to various community and parent functions.
12. Informs Central Office Administration and staff of school activities, changes, programs and concerns.  
13. Works with Central Administration in resolving issues in areas such as transportation, special services, teacher selection, employee conduct and performance.
14. Maintains current education/administrative certificate.
15. Actively engaged in developing and implementing curriculum with staff.
16. Actively engaged in the school improvement process with staff.
17. To establish and maintain good communication with parents verbally or in written form, including orientation, parent conferences, special events, letters welcoming prospective/current families to our centers, touring, etc.
Other duties may be assigned.
