Position Details: 

Secretary to Director of Transportation

Provide support and assistance to the Director of Transportation.  Assists with the overall operation of the transportation office including establishing routes, communication, purchasing, payroll, trip requests and managing daily operations in absence of the director.


Position works 8 hours per day

39 weeks per year with typical hours of 9-6 daily (ability to flex hours at certain time of the school year).  Starting rate of pay is $15.47 per hour after 40 days.




  • High School Diploma required; associates degree preferred
  • Previous experience in a transportation office preferred
  • Experience with Versatrans Routing software, GPS systems, and student database systems preferred
  • Ability to manage many job responsibilities with frequent interruptions
  • Possess or a willingness to obtain a commercial driver’s license with a school bus endorsement
  • Proficient with use of technology and computers


Essential Job Duties:

  • Develop and maintain all transportation routes and maps using computer software program
  • Update and manage student records for transportation routes on student database
  • Dispatching services and operation of a two-way radio
  • Manage and maintain a variety of records, employee documents, payroll records, absence reports, invoices and financial documents
  • Process transportation/trip requests and assist with assignment of drivers and substitutes to routes and trips
  • Perform all office functions and duties including answering phones, mail distribution, filing, correspondence with staff and community, generation of reports, purchasing and inventory
